Good things are happening in Camden County Schools. Even though the progressive school system is one of the smallest in North Carolina , Camden County students have consistently scored well above the state-wide average on their end-of-grade and end-of-course tests.

Grandy Primary, Camden Intermediate, and Camden Middle are Schools of Distinction and all five schools made AYP for the 2008-09 school year. CamTech is a project-based learning school in a technology-rich environment and will graduate their first class in 2010. Camden County High School has achieved "Top Ten School District for Highest Graduation Rate" for two years with an 81.8% four year cohort graduation rate in 2008 and 81.4% in 2009.  Camden County is proud of their 99.25% retention rate for teachers and celebrates the lowest teacher turnover rate in North Carolina.

The community provides tremendous support for the schools in Camden County. The support of the Camden Education Foundation and volunteers in Camden County has created an optimum working environment for staff, which makes it easier for teachers to focus on the children. Thus, the school system's motto, "Camden Keeps Kids First in Education," is truly a reality. These organizations working together have already had a tremendous impact on the school system and set the pace for what will be accomplished well into the 21st century.
